Despite the name, Inland Marine has nothing to do with boats. It covers moveable property — the equipment on your trailer, the tools in a crew van, the materials staged at a job site — precisely where a standard property policy stops covering it. For contractors it is usually the difference between a bad week and a stalled project.
What it covers
- Contractor tools and equipment, scheduled or blanket
- Property in transit between locations
- Materials and supplies staged at a job site before installation
- Rented or borrowed equipment you are contractually responsible for
- Installation floater coverage until the work is accepted
What it does not cover
Stated plainly, because finding out at claim time is how people end up suing their broker.
- Equipment permanently located at your own premises — that is Business Property
- Licensed vehicles themselves, which belong on Commercial Auto
- Mysterious disappearance, on some forms — ask us to check yours
